I’ve signed up for a 5 week Photoshop class with Lisa (my teacher from the winter) at the Hyde Park Art Center. I took a Photoshop training class through work a few years ago and have been using it ever since, but the number of things one can do with Photoshop seems endless. I expected [...]

As busy as I’ve been, I didn’t figure I was up for organizing a camping trip over Memorial Day weekend. As an alternative, Maris, MacGyver, and I planned to drive down to Starved Rock State Park for the day, to hike, eat, hike, and eat, before driving back home in the evening. At 7 a.m., we [...]

April was kind of crummy. I had a virus that wouldn’t let go. It rained 15 days out of 30. I barely got outside. So it was a huge relief to get to the lakefront for a couple of hours yesterday. I have the feeling I wasn’t the only one who thought so.

So, after another week of fretting, I stayed up late last night selecting 20 photos I’ve taken since class began and arranging them into a photographic narrative. As you may have noticed, all include snow. And I took all of them in Harold Washington Park, on Lake Shore Drive (!) or on the lakefront, between the [...]

This week’s photography assignment was to create a narrative in 20 images. Lisa showed us some artists’ series that made heavy use of symbolism as examples. Oh the pressure! I mean, sure, I create narratives with photos all the time on the blog, but I use a lot of text to get the job done. And [...]

Thursday, I decided to stay in to avoid the bitter cold but went to the 38th floor of my building to get a view from above. Saturday, it was warmer. I went out around 4:30 pm and watched the light change on the Point as the sun went down.
Geese!

Update: It has been pointed out to me that these are not ducks but geese. Which demonstrates how much I know about such things. Also from Saturday I was hoping to get some more photos of them in flight, but they outlasted me. Brrrr.
